It's -29degrees in Toronto and I need a Dance party!

I heart GirlTalk.
I have been listening Glen Gillis's music mashups like I am at an all you eat-buffet...if that makes any sense.

Shake shake shake your sillies out.

The Britney Effect

This past week radio networks in the US (perhaps elsewhere too) banned together to well, ban, Britney Spear's newest release 'If You Seek Amy'... say it outloud and you hear F.U.C.K Me.

Yep, middle America is outraged and insulted. Parents are shouting "ear muffs" to their children in order to save their innocense. W.T.F. She is an empire built on sexuality. What do you expect? This isn't something to be banned, this is something to be celebrated ya'll. She is a hot F'in mess.

Deliberate or not every move that catches attention, which is most of them, make someone rich (if not B.S. herself) and broadcast across all news networks and mediums. And let's not forget 2007, her famed melt down year where Papparazzi made millions on her sans-panty and head shaving tactics to to the tune of $250K a shot. Lilo, Paris and Perez himself couldn't get this much play with even the best PR pros or the most waxed of bella-poussoirs. I am really starting to believe that grits and processed cheese truly is the breakfast of champions.

Who cares if 'If You Seek Amy' song gets remade to be more air-friendly.

Message is already received. Its the business of Britney Bitch!

Click here for the Portfolio Magazine article breaks down how much Britney is worth, and what people make off of her... including K-Fed, the Paps, the label.

The New Economy

I like fine things.
I also use the fine things I have and rarely save them for a rainy day.
So penny for pound they earn their worth.

But I am pinching my pennies. New trend? Or just my reality catching up with me.
Kitchen renos are expensive. So are trips to LA.
Where is a girl, or guy, to save her pennies?

New Economy Suggestion #1:

Weekly Savings: $10
Instead of rolling the dice on buying a few iTunes several times a week;
I now listen to streaming FREE music on MySpace.

My faves right now:
CutCopy
Glass Candy
Vampire Weekend (thanks matt)
GirlTalk

I figure if you like it after several listens. You can buy it.

New York Times article - Inaugural Words

Spend 30 seconds or 5 minutes... but this is an incredible timeline that showcases all 44 presidential inaugurations speeches and showcases the words that are used most often.

Certainly an interesting trend-watch tool that in a very curious way tells a story of what was important and relevant at the time, while showcasing the President's character.

44th President of the United States of America.

He is the President people seem to be calling by his first name.

Barack.

There is a connectivity to him that feels visceral, personal and familiar.

It is a beautiful thing when you can physically feel your heart fill itself with hope, joy and excitement. It may not be my country, but I am so inspired and hopeful for my neighbours and for all of us. Change has come to America.

PRESIDENT OBAMA.

Books - the Avocado and the Virgin

I have read this one.

Written in the 1950s, this book tells the story of a young American girl hipster living in Paris and living a Bohemain Golightly life on the kind gesture of her uncle.

The Dud Avocado by Elaine Dundy is a must-read.

and this one sounds like the children's book R (or X) rated version.

I read about it on Good magazine. This magazine is the ultimate thought starter. Its so Good its...
The book I am going to track down at Chapters.. or the library (new economy style).

C'est comme un pain de chocolat and un cafe au lait.
Quelle delight.

Chelsea Handler is hilarious.

Is Chelsea Handler a blonde Sarah Silverman?

Both are dirty, funny, indifferent, fond of genitalia jokes.

Chelsea is with the head of E!, Sarah is with a guy who is F'ing Ben Affleck.

On her show, Chelsea goes toe to toe with Perez Hilton... the Queen of all Media.

Click the photo for the VanityFair article on Handler.

The Wire and M.I.A.

Check out the gorgeousness of cool covers and smash-ups.

M.I.A. has done a cover of HBO's The Wire's opening theme song.

The opening theme is "Way Down in the Hole", a gospel-blues inspired song originally written by Tom Waits for his 1987 album Franks Wild Years. Each season uses a different recording of it against a different opening sequence. Read more here.

Rubik's Cube Mosaic

Pure mathematical genius.
It is a Rubix cube puzzle.
I wish I was a creative genius and thought of this.
Or could do this.
Even starting with the edges wouldn't be an option for my little brain.

Brilliant.... I'd like a final piece to hang in my dining room.
